Valuing Money
October 28, 2009 Education, General No CommentsI was a working student since my mom, being a single parent, can’t afford to send me to college with her salary as a sales clerk. The little money that I earn from being a service at a fast food chain has to be budgeted to cover all of my expenses at school. At school I always make it a point to have my own books, so I could read and study even if I’m home or during vacant hours. My enrollment fees this semester was I really high, that my book allowance was affected.
It was really bothering me that this semester, I wouldn’t be able to buy the books I needed. A friend of mine suggested that I should try to rent a textbook; this would really help me financially. She showed me a few stores that offer text book rentals. The books at the textbook rentals were like brand new and the best part was that, the prices were less than half of the books at our school bookstore. It really helped me to maximize the money that I have.
